In early November Carmichael Machine kicked off a 10,000 square foot addition to their plant on West National Road. The requirement for space became critical with an order to make wheel spindles for our plant in South Carolina (SCMP).
With the spindle job, three Warner and Swasey six spindle screw machines will be added as well as two machines to be used for forming. In addition Carmichael will be cutting off and lancing additional parts for SCMP. Three Multicyl air over oil presses will be added to create lancing cells. The multicyl presses take up little space and are a safe, low cost method of lancing hubs and tubing.
This expansion will provide two new loading docks as well as efficient open space which will allow us to move the CNC department into a more efficient setting with larger aisles and better access to the machines. In the screw machine department steel storage will be enhanced and aisle space increased to allow Carmichael to run longer bar and tubing jobs, moving the stock through the shop and storing it near the machines.
